Discover what we do!

Team

Technical portfolio

In our lab, we make use of innovative  techniques that help us unravel how metabolic and inflammatory pathways in immune and glial cells direct inflammation- and remyelination processes and how these pathways are modulated by therapeutic compounds.

In vivo models

Animal models

The EAE and cuprizone model, and gene deficient mice enable us to evaluate repair and inflammation processes in vivo.

In vitro models

Inflammatory and metabolic cell state

Analysis of the metabolic and inflammatory cellular phenotype by eg multicolor flowcytometry, cytokine arrays, RNAseq, Seahorse, lipid uptake and efflux

Brain slices

Organotypic cerebellar brain slice model

This intigrated ex vivo technique allows the study of remyelination processes in a dish.

Multi-omics

Multi-omics

Combined (spatial) lipidomics, transcriptomics and proteomics in collab. with Lipometrix and LISCO of KULeuven

Primary cell cultures

In vitro primary cell cultures

We use primary macrophages, microglia, T cells, and oligodendrocyte precursor cells to study cell-specific mechanisms.

Imaging

Imaging

Live cell imaging, airyscan superresolution confocal microscopy, 3D rendering of de- and remyelination, inflammatory and metabolic processes
